I like your argument about the father/son contingent, but by saying that those of Ono's generation were "more expressive and they try to become more in touch with ones self," is a little curious to say considering they as a group perpetuated Japan’s eventual demise. I don’t think they were as “expressive” as they should have been, unless the summation of their expression was causing the war.
Great job on the blog, still, it was very insightful and thought provoking.

I have to say that I agree with your sentiment that modern artists are very commercial. A great example of an artist who is a "factory" is Kinkade. His art is about as daring as wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt in public.
There are a great deal of artists that havn't sold out in the sculpture community, however. If you ever have the chance, go to the "Feats of Clay" in Lincoln, Ca. It's a great showcase of sculptors around the world. There are some truly great things there.

I finished reading the novel, and its much like a meditation. Reading a novel with a Japanese sensibility (though Ishiguro was essentially English) helps with the prevailing American thoughts dominating my mind. Reading the novel helps me stand on the bridge, which is remarkable because at earlier stages of my life I've wanted nothing more than to get off of it.
Great blog

I love the story. Being a native of California/USA, I take for granted that our legal system is relatively decent. If I have a matter that needs addressing, I can go to the proper jurisdiction with reasonable confidence that the matter will be settled (there are always exceptions, of course). I hope eventually your father and your family will be able to enjoy the same confidence after matters are resolved, and everything is as it should be. It is sobering to read a story such as this. Good luck to you and your family.
